Sweet Little Things

I love desserts. I am a certified sweet tooth and I will not deny it. I love cookies, cakes, ice cream, cupcakes and everything sweet, except candies. On my sister's birthday, around the 9th, I was able to get a bite out of a heavenly, decadent, lemony cupcake. I could not get over how wonderfully soft and perfect the actual cupcake was, and how perfectly balanced the frosting was! I was scrambling to get the name of the cupcake store, but I already threw the box away! Good thing my sister told me that the name of the cupcake shop I was seeking was Sweet Little Things. So, I asked my amigas, Erika and Christina, to go with me to SLT, to try out their cupcakes. My amigas seem to be enamored with the cupcakes there! Anyhow, on to the review!

The Place:

Sweet Little Things is located at J Block Building, Apitong Street Corner Escario Street. The building looks a bit rough; unfinished and unpainted, it gave the building a rugged, modern look. The shop itself is a quaint little shop, it's located right under the staircase which kinda makes you feel a bit like Harry Potter. I really like how they designed everything!

These look so good. I wished they were real though.

I dunno how to describe these, but their cute.

Cute design-bottle-thing.

Upon entering, you can immediately see the cupcakes in the stand, and my God, do I love drooling at them! Stacked ever so beautifully on the stand, oh how I wanted to eat all of them!

Pwetty cupcakes! ^^ *Drool, Drool*
They also have these cute glass-top circular tables with corner stools to sit in. It looked so laid-back and cute. You'd really wanna sit there and eat and talk.. ^^ I just wish they'd have more comfortable seats, couches perhaps?

The Food:

I heard that they use fresh and local ingredients for their products, and I completely believe that they do! The taste of their creations is really out of this world, for lack of better words to describe it. They also take time to make their cupcakes look pretty and mouth-watering; enough to assure you of the great quality of the product you are about to eat. ^^

The Triumvirate of Delish

Flourless Mudpie & Triple Chocolate
As of the moment, they carry 10 different cupcake variants: Cinful Apple , The Red Velvet, Flourless Mudpie, Blueberry Crumble, Monkey Business, Triple Chocolate, Lemon Poppyseed, Cappuccino, Cookies & Cream and Strawberries ‘N Cream. I haven't tried everything yet, I'm planning to and I'll update this blog as soon as I do that. So far, I've tried four:
  • Flourless Mudpie: I love how chewy this cupcake is. It's a bit crusty on the outside, but once you dig in, you'd notice how soft and chewy it is on the inside. I love how the taste is not too sweet, nor too chocolatey -- just right.
Flourless Mudpie
  • Triple Chocolate: This one was really chocolatey to the core, but not overpowering at all, not too sweet, just right. Just enough to keep you asking for more. And plus 1 one the chocolate shavings on top.
Triple Chocolate
  • The Red Velvet: This cupcake is truly amazing, second only to Lemon Poppyseed. The cream cheese frosting is so good. It greatly compliments the soft and moist cupcake. It even has chocolate chips(?) inside the cake.
  • The Red Velvet
  • Lemon Poppyseed: One word: Perfect. The balance between tart and sweet is just perfect. I was thinking that this dessert would be overpoweringly sour, like most lemon flavored foods, but lo and behold, it was not! Just enough tartness to keep the dessert interesting, and perfectly complimentary sweetness, to go with the tartness.

They seem to carry, along with the cupcakes, beverages like coffee, ciders and seltzers. I didn't try any of those as we came only for the cupcakes. Water was enough for me. I also didn't want to cloud the taste of the cupcake I was eating.

The Price:

Cupcakes are 55 PHP each. It's already a steal, I tell you. They have big cupcakes, commensurate to the price you are paying for. You may want to pair it with a bottle of water for 25 PHP. ^^

You can also get the cupcakes by the box, 158 for a box of three, and 298 for a box of six.

The Verdict:

Five stars!

Enjoying our cuppies.. ^^
Mi Amiga being very demure..
I will come here again and again. The cupcakes are perfect. ^^ Enough said.

Till the next review!

Ja mata ne, foodies! ^^
